Ms. Higginbotham leads Lowe’s community relations efforts which include Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and corporate contributions totaling more than $32 million annually to support communities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. She also oversees Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteer program as well as Lowe’s Toolbox for Education, the company’s signature education grant program, which has donated nearly $5 million in grants to K-12 public schools every year since its inception in 2006.

Prior to Lowe’s, Higginbotham was employed by NASA. In April 1996, she was selected as an astronaut candidate and flew to the International Space Station in December 2006. Higginbotham logged over 308 hours in space during her 13 day mission. She actively participated in 53 space shuttle launches. In November 2007, she retired from a distinguished 20 year career with NASA.

Higginbotham holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and M.S. degrees in management and space systems from Florida Institute of Technology.
