Peggy I. Simmons is Executive Vice President of Utilities at AEP. She leads seven operating companies serving 5.6 million customers across 11 states, as well as the customer support and economic development organizations.

Previously, Simmons was President and Chief Operating Officer of AEP’s Public Service Company of Oklahoma, responsible for all aspects of electric service for 500,000 customers.

Simmons has held roles of increasing responsibility at AEP, including managing director transmission asset strategy, manager commodity sourcing, renewable energy and wholesale auction oversight as well as trading and scheduling in commercial operations. Simmons serves on the boards of BOK Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: BOKF) and OhioHealth. She chaired the Tulsa Area United Way’s 2022 $25 million campaign and founded the Tulsa African American Leadership Academy. She is a member of the Executive Leadership Council and The Links Incorporated and was recognized as the 2022 Trailblazer for Girls Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma.

Simmons earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Ohio State University, received her Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from Central Michigan University, and graduated from the Executive Program-Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
