Desmond (Des) Creary is the US Chief Customer Engagement Officer of Novartis.

In this role, Des is responsible for driving growth across US therapeutic portfolios. His teams help healthcare providers deliver medicines to patients within several therapeutic areas, including oncology, immunology, cardiovascular/renal, neuroscience, respiratory and gene therapies.

Previously, Des served as the Healthcare Business Leader for North and South America at Microsoft.

Through this experience, Des helped position Microsoft as the enabling and empowering technology partner in healthcare. He developed industry points-of-view and go-to-market strategies to best position the business for growth.

Des’ previous experience includes 12 years at GlaxoSmithKline, where he held several leadership roles, including VP of Sales for the US diabetes and respiratory franchises. Des also joined the Office of the CEO as a member of the Future Strategies Group where he co-designed a new operating model for the Sub-Saharan Africa business.

Des’ personal passions include spending time with his wife and daughters. He also volunteers for social causes such as childhood hunger and racial equality, and mentors young adults. His professional passion continues to center on making an impact on patients’ lives.
