Cain A. Hayes is President and Chief Operating Officer of the Health Business for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. In this role, he has full operating and financial responsibility for the $12 billion health business, including Corporate Markets, Medicare, Medicaid, Network and Medical Management.
Prior to joining Blue Cross, Hayes was President of the National Accounts Division for Aetna based in Hartford, Connecticut, where he had full financial and operating responsibility for the $9.1 billion business. Prior to Aetna, he held a number of executive leadership positions at Nationwide and Principal Financial Group.
Hayes currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Drake University and the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Council of Health Plans. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council.
Hayes holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Drake University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Webster University. In addition, he earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
