Kimberly H. Johnson is Fannie Mae’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). Ms. Johnson is responsible for leading technology, data, enterprise models, operations, the enterprise program management office, and resiliency. This unified set of enterprise shared services is central to supporting the execution of Fannie Mae’s unified business strategy.

 

Johnson is also a member of the Management Committee, Fannie Mae’s leadership team. As COO, she is charged with continuing the innovation work already underway throughout the company. Johnson partners closely with business units and the enterprise innovation team to focus resources on innovations that have the potential to enhance the company’s business model, support the execution of strategy, and evolve the housing finance system for the better.

 

Previously,  Johnson served as Fannie Mae’s Chief Risk Officer until March 2018. In this role, she oversaw the company’s governance and strategy for global risk management. Her team provided independent oversight and guidance for managing risk and ensuring compliance, including the development and implementation of risk management measures across the company. The team also led efforts to build and sustain a strong risk culture in which all employees act on their responsibility to manage strategic, market, credit, liquidity, compliance, operational, reputational, and information security, including cyber risk. Prior to that, Johnson held several other key leadership positions, including Deputy Chief Risk Officer, Senior Vice President – Multifamily Capital Markets and Pricing, Vice President for Capital Markets – Multifamily, and Vice President – Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk Management.

 

Before joining Fannie Mae in 2006, Ms. Johnson was a Director at Credit Suisse, where her responsibilities included financial institution fixed-income sales coverage of hedge funds, money managers, and U.S. government-sponsored entities. Earlier, she was a U.S. Equity Trader at D.E. Shaw & Co.

 

Johnson holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Princeton University and a master of business administration in finance from Columbia Business School. She serves as a Director on the Board at Calvert Impact Capital.
