Karen E. Watson is Managing Director, Nielsen Government and Public Sector, LLC for Nielsen. In her current role, Watson applies Nielsen’s commercial research data and analysis to solve important public policy issues around the world such as obesity, hunger, sustainability and the digital divide. Her most recent collaboration was with the White House and the Partnership for a Healthier America to encourage Americans to drink more water. First Lady Michelle Obamahailed Ms. Watson’s work on behalf of Nielsen as “groundbreaking”. Watson’s career is based on a strong commitment to and passion for forging private-public sector partnerships to impact social good.

Watson started her career at The MacNeil/Lehrer Report and National Public Radio’s Morning Edition. She managed the Public Affairs office for the Federal Communications Commission during the overhaul of the Telecommunications Act and advocated policy issues for Echostar in the early days of satellite television. Watson is a Board member of The Fund for Peace and an advisory board member of two internet startups.

Watson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from Bard College.
