Alan L. Smith will serve as Senior Managing Director and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for Invesco Ltd., a global investment firm dedicated to creating greater possibilities for clients.
In this role, Alan is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing people strategy and programs, including Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging, compensation and incentive plans, recruiting and retention, performance management, early career pipelines, professional development, and employee relations. Alan is a trusted advisor to the CEO, the Board of Directors, and members of the Executive Leadership Team.

Alan was previously EVP & CHRO for Corebridge Financial. From 2020 to 2022, he was the Head of Human Resources, Life & Retirement Division at AIG. Prior to joining AIG, Alan was interim Chief Administrative Officer (HR, Finance, and Legal) for a private equity-backed US and China based educational startup. Before that, Alan served as Vice President at TE Connectivity, a global electronics component manufacturer where he lived in Shanghai, China for 3 ½ years.
Alan is a C-suite human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience leading global, complex organizations through transformative change while attracting, retaining, and developing top talent that move the business forward.
Alan is the Chair of the board of Cornerstone Family Programs in Morristown, NJ. He is also an elected member of the Morris School District Board of Education.
Alan has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
