Hilton O. Smith is Senior Vice President for National Community Affairs for Turner Construction Company. In this role, Smith is responsible for managing the company’s corporate and national community affairs, minority and woman owned business enterprise program, equal employment and educational programs. He coordinates business development and strategic marketing programs with senior executive officers within the company. Smith has actively led Turner’s efforts in awarding over $22 billion dollars to thousands of minority and woman owned business enterprises.
For eight years, Turner has reached the One billion dollar mark in its MWBE utilization program. Mr. Smith oversees The Turner School of Construction Management, which coordinates and provides educational opportunities in the construction industry for small businesses.Smith is the president of the Cleveland Branch NAACP; past Board chair of Saint Augustine’s University and serves on numerous boards including the National Association of Minority Contractors, 100 Black Men of NY and SCLC.Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology & Political Science from St. Augustine’s University.
