Tammy Garnes Mata is First Senior Vice President, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, and Director of Human Resources and at Valley Bank.
In her roles, Tammy leads the development, delivery and communication of a holistic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for the organization and works with employees to ensure their growth and success.
Tammy spearheads and executes key DEI initiatives and creates and implements programs to build greater connections among employees and the greater communities Valley serves and creates space for Valley associates to bring their authentic selves to work by providing opportunities to learn, connect, and share experiences.
Prior to joining Valley, Tammy worked for a large insurance company where she focused on diversity and inclusion initiatives, employee relations matters, investigations, and HR policies.
In that capacity, she worked on the company’s overall diversity and inclusion strategy, programs, and employee engagement, which included managing the company’s seven employee resource groups and external diversity partners.
Tammy holds an undergraduate degree in Politics and a certificate in Afro-American Studies from Princeton University, and a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
