Satra Sampson-Arokium serves as Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer for Dechert LLP. Sampson-Arokium’s expertise is in the strategic development of “best in class” DEI initiatives and programming. She partners with leadership to shift mindsets, behaviors, and practices towards more equitable and inclusive leadership for individuals and teams within her own law firm and at other organizations. After joining Dechert 2017 as Director of Diversity and Inclusion, she was named Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer in January 2021.
Sampson-Arokium is a member of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals (ALFDP) and president of the Eastern Fairfield County Chapter and empowerment chair of the Eastern Region of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.
Unsurprisingly, Dechert has earned numerous accolades for DEI progress during Sampson-Arokium’s tenure, including being named “Best International Firm for Diversity” by Euromoney, selected among Seramount’s “100 Best Companies” for five years straight, and named to the Human Rights Campaign’s “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” for a full decade.
Sampson-Arokium holds a B.A. in Political Science from State University of New York at Albany and a Master of Public Administration from Marist College.
