Sam Bright is Chief Product and Experience Officer at Upwork (NASDAQ: UPWK), the world’s work marketplace, where he leads a 900-person team across product management, design, user experience and research, talent success, customer experience, community, payments, trust & safety, and business development.

As an executive with nearly two decades of experience scaling technology teams, businesses and transformational customer experiences, Bright’s career reflects a track record of growing multi-billion dollar P&Ls, executing complex domestic and global transactions, and leading teams through inflection points.

Prior to joining Upwork, Bright was VP and GM of verticals at eBay and had P&L responsibility for the company’s North America vertical business units.

Bright serves on the Board of Trustees of TIAA, the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum Advisory Council, was on the board of directors at Benetech for six years, and is a member of NACD. He’s been named to Savoy Magazine’s “Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America,” Black Enterprise’s “List of the Most Influential Blacks in Technology,” and Products That Count’s Global CPO 20 Awards.

Bright holds an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.A. in management from Taylor University.
