Phil Isom is Chair of the Private Funds practice of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP.
For over 30 years Phil has represented private equity firms in all aspects of their business. His practice focuses on matters relating to forming private investment funds across a broad range of asset classes.
Phil has advised numerous investment teams in spin-outs and formation of their investment firms and has extensive experience in structuring the ownership arrangements of their firms.
Phil also regularly advises his clients on liquidity solutions transactions, including, buyers and sellers in secondary transfers of investment fund interests.
Phil has been internationally recognized by Chambers USA, as well as by Chambers Global. Chambers quotes clients as saying that he has “moved the market forward in the way that people think of funds,” citing his “very commercial instincts” and describing him as “an encyclopedia of fund formation stuff.”
Phil has also been recognized nationally as a leading practitioner by Who’s Who Legal, Legal 500, Lawyers of Color and more. He was previously awarded “Lawyer of the Year” by the Metropolitan Black Bar Association.
Phillip serves on the Boards of Directors of the Abyssinian Development Corporation.
