Pamela Lynn Carter was President of Cummins Distribution Business at Cummins Inc., a designer, manufacturer and marketer of diesel engines and related components and power systems.
Carter joined Cummins in 1997 as Vice President – General Counsel and held various management positions before her appointment in 2008 as President of Cummins Distribution Business, a $5 billion business with a global footprint.
Prior to her career with Cummins, Carter served in various capacities with the State of Indiana and in the private practice of law. Carter was the first woman and the first African-American to hold the office of Attorney General in Indiana and all of the United States.
Carter holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit, a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan and completed the Senior Executive Program in Public Administration at Harvard University, and a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University School of Law.
