Leslie T. Thornton has held her senior executive position since January of 2012. WGL Holdings is a publicly traded, diverse energy solutions company that provides natural gas, electricity, green power, carbon reduction and energy efficiency services. Its operations include Washington Gas, a regulated natural gas utility serving Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia.
Prior, Thornton was a partner in two storied Washington, D.C. law firms — Patton Boggs L.L.P. and Dickstein Shapiro, L.L.P. Thornton has extensive public sector experience as well including a number of senior leadership positions in the Clinton Administration: legal counsel in the vetting group of the 1992 Presidential Transition, Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Education, and Deputy Advisor for the 1996 Presidential Debates, among others.
Thornton holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a J.D. from Georgetown
University Law. She will receive her LL.M. in National Security Law (with cyber security focus) from Georgetown Law in October 2016.
