Joy Peña serves as Senior Director – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Strategies for ESPN, Inc. (A subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company).
In this role, Joy is responsible for guiding ESPN’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) through strategic leadership and collaboration across ESPN and The Walt Disney Company (TWDC). Joy oversees company and division-level DEI strategy planning, ESPN’s Executive DEI Council, DEI talent and leadership development programs, and learning initiatives.
Joy previously held DEI management and consulting roles at Disney General Entertainment (formerly Disney | ABC Television Group), The Walt Disney Studios, DisneyToon Studios/ Walt Disney Animation, and 20th Century Fox.
Joy began her career in the NBC Page Program, working in television production at Dateline NBC, NBC’s The John Walsh Show, and Late Night with Conan O’ Brien before pivoting to Human Resources.
Joy is a member of the New York Board of Directors for Girls Leadership, a non-profit focused on empowering girls, educators, and families through educational, social-emotional learning programs.
Joy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Hampton University.
