James E. Brooks is Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Huntington National Bank, a subsidiary of Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, a $102 billion asset regional bank holding company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
In this role, Brooks is responsible for leading the internal processes for promoting and ensuring Huntington’s compliance with laws, regulations and company policies, including chairing its enterprise-wide Compliance Committee, which oversees compliance risk management of Huntington’s major business lines and more than 15,000 colleagues.
Brooks has more than 25 years of banking industry experience leading firms in the areas of risk, compliance and audit. Prior to Huntington, he held leadership positions in major financial institutions, such as Chemical Bank, JP Morgan Chase and Bank One. His background also includes leading smaller financial institutions, holding such positions as Controller, Chief Audit/Risk Executive and most recently, Chief Financial Officer for Advantage Bank before joining Huntington in September 2011.
Brooks has held several community roles through his career, including, past Chairman of the Alpha Rho Lambda Education Foundation, board member of WrightChoices, Inc. and a member of the Board of Trustees for BalletMet.
Brooks holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Franklin University.
