Heather Souder Choi is the first Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer in Baker Botts’ 182-year history. Her historic appointment comes after a 15-year career with the firm and her promotion to partner in 2017.
Heather is deeply committed to building a firm culture that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging among its lawyers and professional staff. To that end, Ms. Choi is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s global diversity strategy and works in partnership with firm leadership to ensure that DE&I is an integral part of the firm’s overall business strategy.
Under Heather’s leadership, Baker Botts was again recognized by Diversity Lab this year as Mansfield “Certified Plus,” for achieving representation of at least 30% women and diverse lawyers in several key areas – including significant leadership roles, inclusion in formal pitches, lateral recruitment, and equity partner promotions.
Heather firmly believes that diversity efforts are not only good for the firm’s bottom line, but also encourage the firm’s 1400+ employees to bring their true selves to the workplace.
Heather received her Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University.
