Sharon Barner is Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary for Cummins Inc., where she leads several of Cummins’ largest global functions. Sharon also serves as interim Chief Human Resources Officer.
Barner works with leaders to address operational challenges and opportunities, such as core business growth, energy transition, support efficiencies and the remote work environment. Much of her time as Chief Administrative Officer, has been dedicated to leading the company through the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining safe operations at facilities around the world.
A champion of Cummins’ values, Barner has developed pro bono initiatives that deliver legal services to those in need, and she is a powerful voice on racial justice and gender equality issues. She is an integral part of Cummins’ Advocating for Racial Equity (CARE) and Cummins Powers Women programs.
Barner joined Cummins as General Counsel. Prior to Cummins, Sharon served as Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the USPTO and Intellectual Property Department Chair at a Chicago law firm.
Barner earned a Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
