Rhonda Brandon was elected at the Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. (a stock insurer)1, Annual Meeting of the Members to replace former board member Walter White, who has retired. Brandon will complete White’s term and be up for re-election in May 2022.
“I am excited to begin working with Church Mutual as a member of the Board of Directors,” said Brandon. “This is a very forward-thinking company that is steeped in a more than 100-year history. I can’t wait to help shape the next 100 years.”
Brandon is the chief human resources officer and senior vice president for Duke University Health System. In her role, Brandon oversees efforts to advance a world-class workforce that positions Duke University Health System to meet its long-term strategic goals. She is a key driver of initiatives to enhance the organization’s culture and overall performance. She offers trusted counsel to senior staff, advocating on behalf of all staff and providers, ensuring the primary mission of caring for Duke’s patients, their loved ones and each other is achieved.
Over the course of her career, Brandon has shaped human capital strategies and successfully championed key results in talent and organizational development; diversity, inclusion and belonging; total rewards; workforce engagement; and cultural transformation, to name a few.
Brandon is currently a member of the Advisory Board of Truist Bank in the Central Carolina Region. While living in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the chairwoman of the YWCA; vice chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters; board member of Mental Health America; and an advisory board member of the Boys and Girls Club.
She graduated cum laude from Hampton University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication. She earned her master’s degree in organization development at American University.
