Kevin E. Lofton is Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI). In this role, he leads one of the nation’s largest health care systems with more than 98,000 employees, 100 hospitals and a full continuum of services. CHI has $22 billion in assets and $15.5 billion in annual operating revenues.
Previously, Lofton served as Chief Executive Officer of UAB Hospital in Birmingham and Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. He has in-depth knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry and valuable executive leadership skills in management and governance.
Lofton is a former Board member of Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, which is dedicated to increasing diversity of the health professional and scientific workforce and addressing the primary healthcare needs of people of color and underserved populations.
Lofton currently serves on the Board of Directors for Gilead Sciences, Inc. and the Rite Aid Corporation.
Lofton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University, a Master’s of Health Administration degree from Georgia State University, Atlanta, and an honorary Doctor of Humanities in Medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
