Richard D. Daniels is Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. and Hospitals.

As CIO, Daniels manages Kaiser Permanente’s $4.3 billion IT spend and is responsible for leading the organization’s IT vision, strategy and execution. He is also a member of the National Executive Team which is responsible for delivering on Kaiser Permanente’s mission to its 12.2 million members.

Daniels is passionate about the power and potential of technology to transform health and health care, as well as the practical and ethical concerns advances in technology create – including privacy and security, patient consent, and data sharing and ownership. He’s also a champion for new ways of working to improve productivity, quality, and rate of innovation to better support Kaiser Permanente’s mission.

In 2019, Daniels was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame. Under his leadership, Kaiser Permanente IT has consistently ranked a Best Place to Work in IT.

Daniels is the Board Chair for Playworks and serves on the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation Board of Directors.

Daniels holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University).
