John O. Utendahl is the Executive Vice Chairman, Investment Banking for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In this role, Utendahl is responsible for deepening key client relationships globally, driving growth and advisory services across various industries, and increasing collaboration across the firm to best serve its clients.
Previously at Deutsche Bank, Utendahl engaged his long-standing C-Suite and Board of Directors relationships to enable the bank to deliver strategic advice and capital markets access to its most significant global institutional clients.
Prior to Deutsche Bank, Utendahl spent eighteen years as Chairman of the Utendahl Financial Organization, a consortium of five financial affiliates offering corporate clients a comprehensive suite of strategic advisory, investment banking and investment services.
Utendahl served as a Director on several Boards, including the Securities Industry Association (SIA), the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He has appeared in Crain’s New York Business, Forbes, Fortune, the Wall Street Journal, as well as CNBC’s “Power Lunch”.
Utendahl holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Long Island University and an MBA from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.
