The third annual “For the Love of R&B” live music event celebrated R&B trailblazer Tank and his GRAMMY nomination with TGT in the “Best RnB Album of the Year” category this year.
The exclusive, invitation-only event, co-hosted by Celebrity Blogger & Personality Jason Lee, took place on Wednesday, Jan. 22nd at The Sayers Club, located at 1645 Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood.
The event kicked off at 9 p.m. with a red carpet experience hosted by Zena Foster, (Red Carpet 9 p.m. – 11 p.m.) music by DJ B.Hen (VH1’s Master of the Mix) and the live show began at 11 p.m., featuring special invited guests including Kelly Rowland, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Jordin Sparks, Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson.
Tank, one of the most recognizable names in modern R&B and an icon in the making, carried the torch of masters like Marvin Gaye and Al Green, while redefining R&B for a new decade. The talented singer and his celebrity friends surprised guests with a compilation of electrifying performances accompanied by a live band.
The star-studded affair garnered the support and attendance of last year’s host Jordin Sparks and performers Kim Burrell, Lil’ Mo, Mario and Mateo, as well as special guests Queen Latifah, Eva Marcille, and Kevin McCall, to name a few. “For the Love of R&B’s” debut event in 2012 has notably become the last public appearance and performance of the late great Whitney Houston, sparking a tradition in keeping R&B alive during GRAMMY week every year in her honor.
With a star-studded lineup of the music industry’s most talented singers, “For the Love of R&B” helped to uphold the progressive legacy of Whitney Houston alive. The event was produced by Jason Lee’s lifestyle/brand marketing company The Conglomerate Group.
