Wayne Monfries is Senior Vice President, Head of Global Tax at Visa, a world leader in digital payments, facilitating payments transactions between consumers, merchants, financial institutions, and government entities across more than 200 countries and territories.
Wayne’s more-than-30-year career in tax began with roles at PWC and Mars Inc. At Mars, Monfries worked in all areas of corporate tax, from federal, state and local, and international, doing tax compliance, tax planning and audit management.
Active in the tax community, Monfries recently concluded his term as the International President for Tax Executives Institute, a 6,000-member association of in-house corporate tax professionals.
Monfries has a passion for giving back to the community which is aligned with Visa’s focus of uplifting everyone everywhere.
Monfries has served on several non-profit boards, including Oregon Health & Science University, which is the state’s only academic health center, and in 2018 he was elected to serve as Board Chair, a role he continues to serve in today.
Monfries has also served as Board Chair of First Tee of Greater Portland.
Monfries is a graduate of Georgetown University and a member of the university’s Board of Regents.
