Valerie D. Lewis is the Assistant Vice President and Assistant Secretary, Legal Division, with Albertsons Companies, LLC.
In this role, Lewis has corporate-wide responsibility for Litigation and Regulatory Compliance, including consumer protection, consumer privacy, food, health, safety, labeling and advertising issues, and environmental, as well as Proposition 65 (California), commercial, product liability, and general and enforcement-related litigation.
One of the founders of the Safeway African American Leadership Network, she served as its second Chair and as its first woman Chair. Lewis sits on the Board of Ramsell Corporation, where she chairs the Compensation Committee.
Lewis previously served as Vice President of the Alameda Health System Board of Trustees, one of the largest public hospital systems in the country.
Lewis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce and she is a Trustee of Talladega College.
Lewis was named one of the Top Women in Grocery, Senior-Level Executive by Progressive Grocer. She was a named a Madam CJ Walker Corporate Honoree by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Oakland/ Bay Area Chapter.
Lewis holds a Juris Doctorate and undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.
