V. Rafael Stone is a Co-Chair and Principal of Foster Garvey and is based in its Seattle office. He also serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Investment Management group.
Stone’s practice focuses on U.S. and international private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, real estate, opportunistic funds and direct investments. He advises more than 30 public pension funds located throughout the United States in all aspects of public pension fund alternative investments. Rafael has helped his clients successfully navigate through a significant number of workouts and has overseen litigation involving disputes between investor clients and fund managers.
In 2015, Stone was named to The National Black Lawyers Top 100 list. He has been ranked in both Chambers Global and Chambers USA as a “Leading Individual” for Investment Funds: Investor Representation.
Currently, Stone serves on the Board of Directors for the Blethen Corporation and The Seattle Times. He is also a member of the Africa Investor Advisory Board and the Port of Seattle’s Sea-Tac Airport Policy Advisory Group. Rafael previously served as Chair of the African American Heritage Foundation.
Stone earned his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Washington.
