Shelley R. Smith is a Partner with Archer & Greiner and serves as Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer (CDEIO). A prominent member of the commercial litigation group, Shelley defends local and federal governmental officials in constitutional tort claims. As CDEIO, Shelley is instrumental in long-range DEI planning and implementation, and is respected as a passionate, demonstrated champion of diversity and inclusion and a catalyst for positive change.
Smith joined Archer following a distinguished 22-year career in public service for the City of Philadelphia that culminated in eight years as City Solicitor. Shelley is the City of Philadelphia’s longest-serving solicitor. Shelley is a highly skilled attorney known for her representation of the City in the trials of many prominent constitutional tort cases. Her litigation experience also includes pretrial litigation of hundreds of federal and state civil matters, counseling and strategic and risk management advice in matters.
Smith was recently recognized by ROI-NJ Influencers: People of Color 2021 as a “powerhouse lawyer,” and for her role of CDEIO in one of New Jersey’s top law firms.
Smith earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and her B.A. from Temple University.
