Robert R. Simpson, a Partner with Shipman & Goodwin LLP and a member of the fi rm’s seven-person Management Committee, is an experienced trial lawyer representing clients in state and federal courts throughout the country. He focuses on products liability litigation, with an emphasis on drug and medical device litigation, and toxic tort litigation. Robert serves as lead trial counsel and national coordinating counsel for significant medical device and pharmaceutical product liability cases for Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiaries, including hip implants and pelvic mesh litigation.
He serves as a member of the National Board of Directors of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a trial instructor for NITA and the American Bar Association (ABA), and has held top leadership positions in the ABA’s Litigation Section, the National Bar Association (NBA) and the Connecticut Bar Association. Robert has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Connecticut Super Lawyers. He is a past recipient of the NBA Presidential Award.
Robert earned his JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his MBA from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University.
