Robert L. Ryan was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Medtronic. In this role, Ryan was responsible for the following functions at Medtronic: Treasury, Tax, Controllership, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, Public and Media Relations, Information Technology, Facilities, and Strategic Sourcing. Ryan retired from Medtronic in April 2005.
Prior to Medtronic, Ryan was the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Union Texas Petroleum Corporation where he worked from 1982 as Treasurer and then became Controller in 1983. Ryan was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1984.
From 1975 to 1982, Ryan was Vice President at Citicorp and was responsible for Citibank’s
relationships with all companies engaged in the broadcasting and cable television industries.
Ryan holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University, a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
