Richard C. Smith is a Partner in Quinn Emanuel’s Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on complex litigation, employment litigation, white collar criminal defense, transactional and third party due diligence, risk assessment, creation and review of anticorruption policies and procedures, and US-centric and transnational corporate internal investigations for public and private companies.
Smith was the former Principal Deputy Chief for Litigation of the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice Criminal Division, where he supervised the litigation activities of all trial attorneys in the investigation, indictment, and trial of various criminal matters.
Smith sits on the Board of Directors of Exactech, Inc. He chairs the Nominating and Governance Committee and sits on the Audit Committee. Richard also sits on the Board of Trustees at the University Of Florida Law Center Association, Inc. and the Advisory Board at the University of Houston Law Center, Health Law & Policy Institute.
Smith is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer.
Richard has also been named one of the Top 100 Black Lawyers by the National Black Lawyers organization from 2015 to 2018.
