Phillip Melville is Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer for Brighthouse Financial, one of the largest providers of annuities and life insurance in the United States.
In this role, Melville leads the oversight of the company’s risk profile and mitigation strategies for over $250 billion in assets. He is also Brighthouse Financial’s Chief Economist and is responsible for developing the firm’s macro-economic and market outlook.
While at Brighthouse, Melville has focused on enhancing Brighthouse’s risk management systems. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s investment portfolio as it spun-off from its former parent company.
Prior to his current role, Melville was Chief Market Strategist and Head of Credit for Brighthouse Financial’s Investment division. He joined Brighthouse from MetLife, where he was the company’s Chief Market Strategist and Global Credit Strategist. In this role, he helped the company navigate through the 2007-2009 recession. Before joining MetLife, Melville held roles at US Bancorp, and New York Life.
Melville earned a B.B.A. degree in Finance from Hofstra University, an MBA degree from New York University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
