Patrice P. Jean is Chair of the Life Sciences Group and a partner in the intellectual property practice at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, an international law firm based in New York City.
Patrice is a part of a team of intellectual property lawyers that have argued and won cases at the highest levels of the United States’ federal courts.
Patrice has more than a decade of experience counseling leading and startup technology, pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology companies in all areas of intellectual property law.
Patrice regularly calls on her technical background to offer her clients an in-depth understanding of the complex science relative to each prosecution, litigation, and transactional matter that she handles. This vantage point leaves her well-positioned to understand the complex science behind her clients’ innovations as well as the broader market implications.
As a scientist, Patrice conducted research in various areas of biology and biochemistry including virology, oncology, kidney disease, X-ray crystallography and narcotics addiction.
Prior to attending Law school at Columbia University, Patrice earned both her M.A. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University.
