Michael Ugwueke is President and CEO of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, a $2B, six-hospital integrated system.

Over 25 years, he has designed game-changing initiatives delivering revenue, growth and quality targets.

Ugwueke was named to Modern Healthcare’s 2020 “Top 25 Minority Executives in the Nation,” bestowed the Baldridge Foundation’s “Harry S. Hertz Leadership Award,” and Tennessee Hospital Association’s “CEO of Distinction” in 2021.

Instilling a culture of excellence, MLH achieved top decile performance and distinction as Becker’s 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare, US News & World Report’s Best Regional Hospital, and Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity.

Ugwueke serves on the University of Tennessee Health Science Advisory Board, the Memphis Medical District Collaborative, Tennessee Business Leadership Council, the National Civil Rights Museum, the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank Board of Directors, and the ACHE Board of Governors. He is chair-elect of the Tennessee Hospital Association.

Ugwueke received a Doctorate in Health Administration and Leadership from the Medical University of South Carolina; Master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University; and Bachelor’s degree from Shaw University.
