Michael A. Wright is Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Covanta, a world leader in providing sustainable waste and energy solutions. The company’s 45 Energy-from-Waste facilities provide communities and businesses around the world with environmentally sound solid waste disposal by using waste to generate clean, renewable energy.
In this role, Wright is responsible for leading global human resources initiatives in the areas of strategy and programs, labor relations, compensation, benefits, and talent management. He also serves on Covanta’s Senior Executive Leadership Team. Prior to Covanta, Wright was Vice President-HR & Technology for Altria, where he led a staff of Generalists supporting the Corporate functional organizations and senior leadership of Altria Group.
Wright serves on the Board of Trustees for the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) and the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Western Monmouth County. He previously served on the Executive Advisory Council for the College of Business at Delaware State University.
Wright holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and an Master’s in Business Administration from Columbia University.
