Melvin D. Williams served as President of Nicor Gas.

In this role, Williams was responsible for ensuring that natural gas – a clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy source – reaches more than 2.2 million homes and businesses in 656 northern Illinois. Williams severed as Senior Vice President of Southern Company Gas.

In his more than 30 years with Southern Company Gas, Williams increased his depth of knowledge in all facets of natural gas utility distribution through roles within the company.

Williams is the Founding Chairman of the Illinois Utilities Business Diversity Council and a member of the American Association of Blacks in Energy, Chicago chapter.

Williams is a Hall of Fame inductee of the Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club of Savannah and the Boys & Girls Club of Georgia.

Williams earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Savannah State University.
