Melody Smalls is Chief Human Resources and Compliance Officer for The Weather Channel (TWC). In this role, she leads human resource strategies while maximizing organizational performance and attracting and retaining talent. She is also responsible for the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts.
Prior to TWC, Smalls was with Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., serving as Vice President of Human Resources, where she led HR strategy and execution for the company’s corporate division. Previously at Turner, she served as Director of Human Resources, leading HR for Turner’s entertainment and animation networks.
Prior to Turner, Smalls was Director of Human Resources for MTV Networks and served in various HR roles at First Chicago Trust Company, JP Morgan and Chase Manhattan Bank.
Smalls is a member of the Forbes Human Resources Council, Women in Cable Telecommunications and the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communication. In 2016, she was named one of the Most Powerful & Influential Women by the National Diversity Council.
Smalls received her Master’s in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a dual Bachelor’s in Marketing and Human Resources Administration from Temple University’s Fox School of Business.
