Maurice A. Bellan is Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie’s Washington, DC office and leads the Firm’s US False Claims Act (FCA) and government contracts practice. He has more than 20 years of experience defending multinational corporations and individuals facing complex, high-stakes government enforcement actions.
Maurice started his career as a US Department of Justice trial attorney and is experienced in a broad range of fraud and anti-corruption matters. He now serves as a trusted advisor to companies in industries heavily regulated by US federal programs, working with them to enhance compliance and mitigate civil, criminal, and regulatory risks.
The demographic of most of his clients are companies requiring cross-border anti-corruption investigation support involving the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the U.S. False Claims Act.
Maurice has shepherded clients through enforcement actions pursued by several branches of government and various US congressional committees.
