Lloyd H. Dean is Chief Executive Officer of CommonSpirit Health, a non-profit Catholic health system.
In this role, which he has held since 2019, Dean is responsible for leading CommonSpirit Health’s hospital and clinical operations, financial strategy and human resources for 150,000 employees across more than 1,000 care sites, including 137 hospitals.
Previously, Dean was President and CEO of Dignity Health, one of the nation’s largest healthcare systems, from 2000 through 2019. Dean was instrumental in creating CommonSpirit Health in 2019 when Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives combined.
Prior to joining Dignity Health, Dean held leadership positions at Advocate Health Care and the Upjohn Company.
Dean holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University and an honorary Doctorate degree in Humane Letters from the University of San Francisco.
