
Lewis A. Steverson is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Corning Incorporated. Steverson serves on Corning’s Management Committee, which is responsible for the company’s overall leadership, strategic direction, policy-making, and governance. As General Counsel, Steverson advises the company, the committee and the Board of Directors on all legal matters and manages the 150-member global law department.
Since joining Corning in 2013, Steverson has restructured the Law Department and redefined its strategic purpose. He helped manage Corning’s purchase of 50% of the outstanding equity in a joint venture with Samsung Corporation in Korea, a transaction that increased Corning’s annual revenue by nearly $3 billion. In 2015, Steverson negotiated the realignment of Corning’s ownership interest in Dow Corning, a 75-year-old joint venture with Dow Chemical, which resulted in Corning exchanging its 50% ownership interest for $4.8 billion and a 40.25% ownership interest in Hemlock Semiconductor Group.
Previously, Steverson spent 18 years with Motorola Solutions, Inc., where he held a variety of leadership roles, including Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
Steverson earned his bachelor’s degree from Siena College and his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
