Previously, Thompson served as Group Vice President of Clinical Affairs for the Cardiac and Vascular Group at Medtronic, Aortic and Peripheral Vascular Therapies, Coronary and Structural Heart Therapies, and Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure Therapies.

Before leading the Cardiac and Vascular Group Clinical Research Organization, Thompson led the global marketing organization for the Medtronic Endovascular Therapies business and focused on providing healthcare professionals with therapeutic solutions to impact the lives of patients with aortic aneurysms and peripheral vascular disease. Prior to Medtronic, Thompson served as a Research Fellow in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Preventive Medicine and as a Health Policy Analyst and Team Leader at the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy.

Thompson completed a Doctor of Medicine and MPH in a combined degree program at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. He earned a MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Chemistry from Harvard College.
