Karriem Shakoor is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for UL.
In this role, Shakoor leads our technology and information strategies and manages data analytics, systems development and technology operations to provide a safer, more secure enterprise architecture.
Upon joining UL in 2017, Shakoor brought 18 years of IT leadership experience, having served as Ameriprise Financials’ Vice President of Information Technology; as the Chief Technical officer (CTO) of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; and in leadership roles at Electronic Data Systems, Sprint E-Solutions and ArvinMeritor.
Shakoor serves on the board of directors for Chicago United and Techbridge Girls. He has been recognized by Chicago United as a Business Leader of Color (2019) and listed on Diversity MBA Inc.’s Top 100 Under 50 (2012). He’s also a member of the National Black MBA Association, Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF), Black Data Processors of America and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Shakoor graduated from Walsh College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Computer Science and earned his Master of Business Administration in finance from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration.
