Jermaine Swafford serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Transportation Officer for CSX Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for the daily operations of a transportation network that encompasses about 21,000 miles of track in 23 states, the District of Columbia and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

 

As Chief Transportation Officer, Swafford has been integral in transforming the company’s traditional operating model into a more precision-focused and scheduled operating model, creating a better service product for customers and lasting value for shareholders.

 

Previously, Swafford served as Vice President of Regional Transportation for the Northern and Southern Regions. He also served as the Atlanta Division Manager, overseeing significant improvement in the Division’s operating metrics. Under his leadership, the Atlanta Division was awarded the company’s annual Service Excellence Pinnacle Award.

 

Swafford is on the Board of Directors for Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, CSX Transportation, Conrail, the Beltway Railway Company of Chicago and several short line railroads.

 

Swafford holds a Bachelor’s degree from Marshall University in West Virginia, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as an all-American linebacker for the University’s Thundering Herd football team.
