Janine J. Smith is Vice President, Chief Compliance, Ethics & Privacy Officer for The Hershey Company.
In this role, Janine is responsible for developing, overseeing, leading and continuously improving the company’s global ethics and compliance program, data privacy program, and the company’s Risk Center of Excellence, which includes the Enterprise Risk Management and Enterprise Resiliency programs. Janine also serves as the chief legal advisor for the company’s tax and finance departments.
Janine has held several key positions throughout her legal career, including VP, Deputy General Counsel for Global Compliance, Government Relations & Security at The Hershey Company; Counsel and Resident Advisor with the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP; Vice President & Chief Counsel for the trade association Feeding America; Associate Dean at Rutgers University College of Law – Camden; and Judiciary and Finance Committee counsel to US Senator Carol Moseley Braun.
Janine earned her B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and her J.D. from the University of Iowa.
