Hugh M. Brown founded BAMSI, Inc., a full- service engineering and technical services company, in 1978 and served as its Chief Executive Officer until his retirement in 1988.
Brown currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of Directors of SunTrust Bank of Orlando and a member of the Board of Managers (BOM), Nemours Children’s Hospital. Brown is a past member of the Florida Council of 100 and the Florida Council on Economic Education. He is a past Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, and previously served on the Florida Commission on Education, and as Chairman of the Spaceport Florida Authority (now Florida Space Authority) Board of Supervisors.
Brown was named “Small Business Person of the Year,” 1985, by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and “Regional Minority Small Business Person of the Year” for the Atlanta region. In 1991, he received the “U.S. Small Business Administration’s Graduate of the Year Award.” He is recipient of the “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year” — in 1993 for the State of Florida.
