Frederick R. Nance is Global Managing Partner at Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP and Head of its US Sports & Entertainment Group. Previously, he served as Regional Managing Partner and Cleveland Office Managing Partner. Nance has served as personal and business counsel to NBA Star LeBron James and Comedian Dave Chappelle. He led litigation and negotiation with The National Football League that returned the Browns franchise to Cleveland when former owner relocated.
Nance has received numerous honors and recognition, including the 2017 Distinguished Business Leader Award, AARP; 2017 Who’s Who in Northeast Ohio, Crain’s Cleveland Business; 2017 Northeast Ohio’s most influential leaders, Inside Business Magazine Power 100 List; and The Best Lawyers in America since 2001. He has served on Law360’s Sports Editorial Advisory Board and The Greater Cleveland Partnership Executive Committee (Chair 2006-2008).
In 2014, Nance received the Managing Partner of the Year Pathfinder Award at the Fourth Annual African-American Managing Partners and General Counsel Dinner, during the National Bar Association’s 89th Annual Convention. He has been featured on the cover of several magazines, including Law Magazine (2015), Inside Business Magazine (2007), and Ohio Super Lawyers (2005).
