Eugene A. Woods is President and CEO of Atrium Health, one of the most comprehensive and highly integrated not-for-profit healthcare systems in the nation.
Woods has nearly 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, including President and CEO of CHRISTUS Health, where he oversaw acute, post-acute and international operations for facilities in the U.S., Mexico and Chile.
Woods previously served at Catholic Health Initiatives – as CEO of Saint Joseph Health System and as Senior Vice President. Prior to that, he was COO of MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Woods has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare and one of Modern Healthcare’s Top-25 Minority Executives in Healthcare for four consecutive years. He holds numerous other professional distinctions, including one of the “50 Great African American Leaders”.
Woods currently serves on several boards and is a member of Becker’s Healthcare’s Advisory Board and the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council.
Woods holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Planning and Administration, a Master’s degree in Health Administration and an Master of Business Administration (MBA), all from University of Pennsylvania.
