Donald Thompson was President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s Corporation
from 2012 until March 2015. Thompson’s leadership at McDonald’s contributed to the stability and controlled growth of the global company.
Previously, Thompson served as President and Chief Operating Officer of McDonald’s Corporation from 2010 to 2012 and President of McDonald’s USA from 2006 to 2010. Prior to joining McDonald’s, Thompson served six years as an Electrical Engineer for the Northrop Corporation.
Thompson serves on numerous civic and philanthropic boards. Thompson is a Member of
the Commercial and Economic Clubs of Chicago, World Business Chicago and the Arthur M. Brazier Foundation. Thompson is a Trustee on the Boards of the Cleveland Avenue Foundation for Education, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Purdue University.
Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University
and an Honorary Doctorate from Excelsior.
