DeMaurice F. Smith is Executive Director of the National Football League Players’ Association (NFLPA). Smith has been credited with successfully negotiating a historic 10-year Collective Bargaining Agreement with the NFL that ended the 132-day lock-out.
Prior to this position, Smith was an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia
for nearly a decade and was formerly Counsel to then Deputy Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. in the United States Department of Justice. Smith was awarded the U.S. Attorney’s Office
highest honor for courtroom advocacy with the “John H. Evans Award”.
Smith also served as a Partner in global law firms of Latham & Watkins, LLP and Patton
Boggs. Smith was named one of the top ten most influential executives in sports.
Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Political Science from Cedarville
University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.
