Cecil B. Pickett was President of Research & Development at Biogen Idec Inc. Pickett has published extensively in leading research journals. He has been a frequent speaker at scientific symposia & conferences and received several major academic awards.
Previously, Pickett served as Senior Vice President and President of Schering-Plough Research Institute, the pharmaceutical research arm of Schering-Plough Corporation. Pickett came to Schering-Plough Research Institute from Merck Research Laboratories, Montreal, Canada, and West Point, PA.
During his 15-years at Merck & Co., Pickett held various positions including Associate Director, Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Biochemistry and Director, Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Biochemistry.
Pickett is a Member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
Pickett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from California State University at Hayward
and a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from UCLA.
