Alfred Bowie, Jr., is the Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at Veracyte, a leading genomic diagnostics company that improves patient care by providing answers to clinical questions that inform diagnosis and treatment decisions without the need for costly, risky surgeries that are often unnecessary.

In this role, Bowie leads Veracyte’s strategic planning function and oversees biopharmaceutical collaborations identifying, evaluating and executing technology and business partnerships; and managing licensing and acquisitions.

Previously, Bowie was Senior Director of Corporate Development and Strategy at Foundation Medicine and led strategic planning, corporate development and competitive intelligence, helping drive corporate growth and business collaborations.

Prior to Foundation Medicine, Bowie was Director of Corporate Development at Tecan Group and managed business development at Danaher Corporation. He began his career at The Boston Consulting Group.

Bowie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Davidson College and earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and Chemical Biology from University of California, Berkeley. He also completed an NIH fellowship at the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard Medical School.
